Hanover Street [1979 feature film] |

Despite appearances, the throughfare of the title in which US bomber pilot Harrison Ford meets nurse Leslye-Anne Down was entirely a set built on the back-lot at Elstree Studios. Production designer Philip Harrison excelled at creating an authentic London Street in 1943, which would - of course - not be complete without it's own Leslie Green-style Piccadilly line "Hanover Street" Underground station. In actual fact, of course, the real Hanover Street is closer to the route of the Central line than the Piccadilly. | |||||||||
